During times of war governments will strategically create and place advertisements to support their own initiatives. Take a look at the pieces showsn below. Each piece specifically plays off of the concerns and emotions of that particular generation. The goal of propaganda is to rally citizens around a governmental cause. Do you think they work?
Activity Two
Step 1: Examine the propaganda photos shown below. There are two (2) from each war era we have discussed so far. Choose a total of two, which you particularly like or find interesting.
Step 2: Now that you have choosen two (2) pieces of propaganda, you will need to find two (2) modern day examples that you feel correlate well to the pieces you have choosen from the below selection. When you are choosing your current day pieces consider what struggles and issues which are pressing in out nation.

Step 3: When you have found your current day propaganda pieces, you will enter into the blog section of this Curriculum Web.
Step 4: In a blog entry, explain all four (4) pieces that you have choosen. Explain why you choose them and the relationship between them. You should clearly outline the reason the current day pieces were generated, how they are being utilized today and if you agree with it or not. Why?
To find your current day pieces of propaganda, you may use the sites listed above, or if you would like to use an additional site you may do so, but approval from your teacher is required.
